Shepparton Young Instrumentalists Award 2019
A showcase of the regions young musicians
The SYIA was launched in 2011 to provide a competition for young musicians in Regional Victoria.
The competition provides opportunities for new musicians in the Novice, Under 10 and Under 13 categories as well as performance experience for older students to perform for their peers in the Under 16 and Under 19 categories. The competition is run in partnership with Riverlinks Shepparton at Eastbank, who have generously donated the use of the venue for the students to perform in and support the event with advertising and technicians. The 2018 SYIA was a huge success with over 80 students performing and and gave many students an opportunity for their talents to be recognized at a community level. SYIA is also supported by numerous local businesses and individuals across Regional Victoria, with over $3000 in prize money donated in 2018. In 2019 the SYIA is on the 31st of August, from 9am to 4pm. The Gala Final on the 31st of August at 5:30pm is where the winning performers in the Under 16 and Under 19 sections from across the competition, in all instrument categories, perform for the adjudicators.
